What a week of Welsh shooting!!!

Apologies for the delay in the updates this week.

Starting off with the OSK HCIT in Esker over the weekend, congratulations to Team Wales for superb shooting and the shoot report is below-

Team managers’ report

47th Olympic Skeet Home International Esker Ireland 2022

They say Ireland is green for a reason but this year the rain stayed away.  We had perfect weather, wall to wall sunshine and a warm Irish welcome everywhere we went.

Our thanks to everyone at Esker Shooting Ground for opening earlier than advertised so that Team Wales could complete their last minute preparations before competition day.

We had three new caps this year, Maxine Smiles-Cooke, Martin “Billy” Beaumont and Stephen Gale and were able to field teams in the Senior, Veteran and Ladies Categories.  Everyone scored well, including a number of PBs, and against some strong competition we claimed the runner up spot in all three categories – everyone came home with ICTSC badges and a great big smile… brilliant !!

The Wales High Gun Trophy went to Ben Llewellin with a score of 95 and our team captain Tony Cox claimed the Welsh Runner Up Trophy with a score of 90.

The term team is often used loosely… but this year’s OSK group really were a team… the shooters who took part in the competition and supported each other to do their best, our team captain, Tony Cox and all those that helped in the months prior to the competition – expert training sessions,  practice sessions at South Wales 2000 and not forgetting those shooters who were not in the team this year but were there working hard and competing for places.

This was my first time as team manager and I can honestly say the team spirit was phenomenal and I can only say thank you to everyone who made this happen and  well done Wales OSK shooters  what a great group, you will remember this one for a long time

Alf

Also, congratulations to the Wales DTL Team Manager-Will Plamer, for shooting 100/300 at Holmes Chapel at the weekend! Well shot Will!!

At the English Open, Phil Morgan was High Gun with a 98/100, after a shoot-off and Bob Clarke was 3rd overall and 2nd in AA Class. Darryl Perry was 1st in C Class and Felix Hughes was 1st in Juniors!!

In the British Open, Phil Morgan was Runner Up, Bob Clarke was 1st in A Class and Felix Hughes was 1st in Juniors. Congratulations all-and great shooting!

At Fauxdegla over the weekend at their UT Challenge Cup and OT, Emyr Davies was Joint 3rd on the UT with a 91, with Graham Evans 5th with a 90 and Junior Robert Shone Joint 6th and Katie Cowell Top Lady.

In the OT Challenge Cup, Graham Evans shot an 88, ending up with Super Vet High Gun on both days and 5th overall. Top Welsh shooter was Katie Cowell and only 1 behind, was Robert Shone. Well shot all!!

Sporting also had the Pro One Challenge at Barbury SS and Josh Keeble’s 113/120 took him into the Super Six final, where he finished a very creditable 3rd, behind Richard Faulds and Martin Myers. Welsh Junior Jacob o’Loughlin came 1st in A Class, Laura Lewis Joint 2nd in C Class and Janine White was 2nd in Ladies, with Annalise Evans 3rd in Juniors. Well shot all!!
