Richard “Richie” Brown

It is with great regret that we share the sad news of the passing of Richard “Richie” Brown.  Richard was a prominent member of both the Welsh Sporting and FITASC Teams and his passion for shooting spanned several decades.  He helped with the running of Nelson Shooting Ground in the 1990s and early 2000s and was keen to encourage inter-club shooting events through the ground.

Not only did Richard excel at shooting, but he also showed an incredible aptitude for snooker, golf and fishing throughout the years.  Fishing was his lifetime’s passion, and he notably held the record for the largest monkfish caught in Wales for several years, catching a 40lb fish in 1973 and beating his own record in 1974 with a 50lb catch.

Richard took over the reins of The Cardiff Industrial Brush Company from his father and grew the business from strength to strength, working alongside his wife Patricia and son Vince.

A talented sportsman with a wicked sense of humour and infectious laugh, Richard will be sorely missed by those who knew him as well as his wife Patricia and four children, Vince, Kaye, Natalie and Natasha.

All are welcome to the funeral which will take place on Thursday 2nd September 2021, 3pm, at Barry Crematorium.  The family has requested that no flowers be given, but that kind donations would be most welcome for Velindre Hospital.
