Wales OSK Home International Fauxdegla 2023

The 48th Olympic Skeet Home International Tournament was held at Fauxdegla International Shooting Centre on the 12th August 2023 where the ground was in Tip Top condition… our sincere thanks to Mike and Debbie Faux for putting on a well organised and flawless competition.

Due to the weather The targets were certainly challenging…  no 25 straights. Our congratulations go to England’s Aaron Eccleston with the day’s top score and High Gun of 94 ex 100. Impressive shooting under those conditions. Well done.

We had an excellent team captain in Maxine Smiles-Cooke she kept us focussed and gave an excellent speech at the banquet as well as hosting the superb evening before, Thank you Max.

This year we had three new caps Joanna Hockly-Andrews, Felix Hughes and Gethin Lloyd …. congratulations on making the team and may this be the start of your OSK journeys.

The Welsh High Gun Dragon Trophy was won by Tony Cox with a score of 85 and the Runner-Up Dragon Trophy by Georgie Shephard with a personal best of 81.  Congratulations you two, that was an excellent performance. England were very strong but all the Welsh shooters gave their best on the day and we came away with a number of Runners-Up badges.   Senior Team, Ladies Team, Junior Team, Super Veteran Team, and the combined L/J/V/SV team.  Gareth Wrentmore took the “Runner-Up Super Veteran High Gun” in what was a very competitive classification – well done. Significantly, that meant that honours were received by every member of the Welsh Team. A just reward for all the hard work and effort that went into preparing for the competition.

The day was rounded off by the Banquet and Prize giving where the Northern Ireland Captain Gareth McAuley invited the ensemble to meet for the 49th Home Countries International Tournament in Northern Ireland in August 2024.

Hosting a Home International is never easy and a huge thank you to everyone who helped to make the day a success…   And to everyone who took part in the competition well done and congratulations on your achievements – it was pleasure to be your Team Manager.

Best wishes All.
