National Skeet Welsh Open Fauxdegla 2024 by Rob Trow

This past weekend saw Fauxdegla International Clay Shooting Centre hold the 2024 National Skeet Welsh Open.

A big thank you to Mike and Debbie Faux and their team for putting on such a great day. The weather was glorious with the odd gust of wind adding a bit of excitement to otherwise perfect clays. It was quite a high scoring event with the top 16 shooters hitting 95 or above.

Congratulations to Gary Cooke for taking the NSK Welsh Open title with a 99/100 after beating Steve Leppington in the shoot off which took the format of pairs on stands 3,4 and 5.

Well done to Nigel Hodson for winning the Welsh High Gun trophy and medal with a 97/100. He was victorious (lucky) in the shoot off beating me on stand 4 (my nemesis!)  I was happy to take home the Welsh Veterans High Gun trophy and medal.

Isabelle Cartlidge took the ladies High gun trophy and medal with another 97/100 and Alex Hughes put in a very respectable 95/100 to claim the Junior High Gun Trophy, well done both.

The Colt Trophy went to Charles Cunliffe, well done.

Scores for the day were:

Overall High Gun– Gary Cooke 99/100

Welsh High Gun-Nigel Hodson 97/100

Welsh Veteran High Gun-Rob Trow 97/100

Welsh Juniors High Gun- Alex Hughes 95/100

Ladies High Gun– Isabelle Cartlidge 97/100

Welsh Colt High Gun– Charles Cunliffe 83/100

Thankyou to everyone who made the effort to attend and shoot and also those that volunteered to ref.

Good luck at the HCIT next week if you shot well enough to make this year’s teams.
