OSK Welsh Grand Prix
July 17 - July 18
It’s time to add some detail to the Selection Shoot options for this year. I have already had conversations with some of you and the watchword this year is “flexibility” as none of us know the final outcome with anti-Covid arrangements. The Banquet is still in doubt at the Home International on the 14th August… but I will inform you of any decisions as the days advance.
The dates are on three weekends primarily to make it work for those of you who travel long distance. They are at SW2000 on the 29th and 30th May, the 19th and 20th June and the weekend of the 17th and 18th July which is also the Welsh Grand Prix weekend. When I reserved these with Mike Amodeo, I was almost immediately trumped by British shooting for the June weekend. So, in discussions with Gareth, we have set out the following framework to give us the best chance of fairly selecting the OSK team :-
Each of these days is to be a selection shoot of 100 targets, a total of 6 selection shoots.
The June fixture for British shooting will count the first four consecutive rounds of the competition as a Welsh qualifier with the points awarded deducted from the highest Welsh shooter’s score.
The best two selection scores ( Points) to count in selecting the team and an MQS must be shot on at least one of the selection shoots.
The Welsh Grand Prix will be the two days 17th and 18th July with a 25 target final on the Sunday to decide the open competition, “Old Welsh Rules” again.
We would be grateful if and Clive and Emyr would post this update on the WCTSA website and Facebook respectively… Thanks guys.
