NEWS / REPORTS OCTOBER 2006
Bisley Shooting Ground - 100 DTL Open - October 29th 2006
Our British Open DTL champion Phil Morgan traveled to Bisley to try to make his mark on this 100 bird DTL shoot.
Phil shot the first 50 targets clear, dropping just a point. There were a few other shooters who had shot 50 x 147 and one other on a 50 x 149 at the 50 stage.
Barreling a target on the third stage meant Phil was a point behind the leader who was on 75 x 224, with a round to shoot. Shooting the last round clear, Phil finished on a 100 x 298 which took high gun of the day (the next closest was a 100 x 296).
After her recent success in the ladies team event at the DTL counties final, Phil's partner Gail also shot at Bisley and scored a very respectable 92 x 265 (especially since Phil said they were very challenging targets).
Well shot both of you.

Southern Counties Shooting Ground - 100 Universal Trench - October 15th 2006
Top Welsh trap shooter Phil
Morgan (and current British DTL champion) turned up at this event to make
his mark on this UT shoot and ended up winning the competition with a score
of 94 x 100.
Shooting the first 50 targets clear, Morgan was out in front by 5 targets at
the fifty stage. Scoring only a 21 on the next stage - Morgan saw the
field close in.
A 23 on his final round ensured that nobody could pass him at the end - fine
shooting and a good display of how flexible Phil's trap shooting ability is
by switching between different trap disciplines so easily with amazing
success.
Chris Belcher another Welshman got off to a good start posting a 25 straight but stumbled along the way ending on 84 x 100.
Roy Long (a blast from the past) also attended and finished 3rd overall on a scored of 87 x 100, narrowly beaten by a D.R.Stepney on an 88.
R.C.Jones shooting his first ever 100 U.T competition scored a very commendable 81 x100.
Well, done to all who attended and thanks to Southern Counties for an enjoyable day.
------------------------------------------------
Mid-Wales Shooting Centre - 100 Down the Line - October 8th 2006
Roy Partridge and Phil Morgan shared top honours on this event with scores of 100 x 299.
Early scores in the day saw lots of competitors posting 50 x 150 and 50 x149's and 148's at the half way stage.
Glyn Jenkins finished on a 100 x 297 which set the mark for the rest of the field and the other shooters to follow.
Partridge was on for a 300 going into his last round but barreled one, which left him one point short of a full house. Morgan also on for a 300 barreled his 84th target and with 11 targets left to shoot needed all of them to tie with Partridge to share top spot.
Well, done to all shooters who drew money and best of luck to all for the forth coming Inter Counties Final at Llandegla.

Welsh Universal Trench Success
The weather was dismal on the way down and doubts entered our heads if we had made the right decision to travel. Our opinion changed on our arrival and the weather changed for the better and stayed so for the whole event.
Again the guys accounted well for themselves with the scores as follows.
