The 2006 National Skeet County Final was held at Mid Wales Shooting Centre
 on April 2nd 2006

Final Shoot Report (Click thumbnails for full image):

Not many skeet shooters who arrived at Mid Wales Shooting Centre on the 2nd April for the Welsh Inter Counties National Skeet Final will ever have experienced weather conditions like that before!  Gale force winds, driving rain and very cold temperatures for good measure.  What a welcome for the new caps!

Six Counties competed without complaint and it was nice to see West and Mid Glamorgan putting teams in.  It certainly paid off for West Glamorgan as with no room for error with all shooters scores to count, they finished 2nd on 722, just one point ahead of Dyfed.  But it was Clwyd who stole the show with an excellent score 767 (pictured in the team thumbnail on the right).

There were a couple of outstanding scores considering the conditions such as J.Thomas, overall high gun and winner of the Captains Cup, on a 96 (pictured in the thumbnail on the left) and A.Jones on a 94. Tremendous shooting, boys!

Ladies High Gun was won by Dyfed shooter Carol Francis who also went on to win the Ladies team shield with Angie Goodman.

Jordan Clifford from Mid Glamorgan took the Junior High Gun.  Chris Potter will be keeping his Veteran trophy after winning it for a third consecutive year whist shooting for Dyfed and also added the winning Veteran team event with Tim Hardaker to his successes.
Veteran champion Chris Potter and Junior champion Jordan Clifford are shown in the thumbnail on the right.

Juniors Ed Poore and Shane Wilson from Dyfed took the team shield for the Juniors (shown in the thumbnail on the left).
Congratulations to all the new caps - just remember - it isn't always that windy, cold and wet!

Final County Positions:

Clwyd 767
West Glamorgan  722
Dyfed  721
Powys  694

Thanks to everybody at Mid Wales for putting together yet another successful County Final and to Angie Goodman for all the hard work behind the scenes organising these events.
