Krieghoff 500 Event
Saturday 24th May saw the 10th staging of the Krieghoff Classic DTL two day event, 529 competitors and 200 targets to find the 2008 Krieghoff Classic DTL champion who would drive away with a specially commissioned Krieghoff on the Sunday evening.
Shooting started at 9:00 am with warm weather and very high winds blowing across the shooting ground at Mid Wales. Shock score after shock score being recorded on the wall of the club house, some ‘AA’ class shooters in the low 270’s, any score in the 290’s being great for the day.
The high gun for Saturday was Darren Newton on 299.
Sunday morning greeted the shooters with high winds blowing into the squads and heavy rain making visibility difficult with glasses on. The trap house hinged roofs were being lifted and flipped over and at one point a marquee shelter at the top of the ground lifted up and blew over the hedge with shooters running out of the way of the falling 3 inch round pole.
Again scores were low, but some fantastic performances saw 3 x 100/300's. Dave Toomer won the shoot off for the chance of the gun and also triumphed in the super final to win the event.
Despite the wind and rain the event ran like clockwork!!! Arthur, Rita and all the staff of the competition along with Rachael and the catering crew should be commended for their work not only on the weekend but also the rest of the week. Every single squad started on time with no delays or breakdowns. The management of Krieghoff should be suitably impressed and proud of the event, the biggest just gets better and better. With the investment into the ground with new traps and ground improvements the next big event the European DTL should also be a triumph.
Despite the wind and rain every competitor seemed to enjoy the challenge.
Congratulations Arthur, Rita and all the staff and also to Krieghoff UK long may the event continue.
Regards
Glyn Jenkins W1744

Shoot Links
Regular Welsh International DTL shooter Will Andrews has put together a webpage describing shoots available in the Welsh borders area - these shoots mostly consist of a small number of clays e.g. 10 bird shoots. This is a very useful link, put it in your favourites for future reference.

Discipline Qualifiers
Its that time of the year again when quite a lot of early qualifiers for various Welsh teams start. If you are taking part drop us a few pictures and details of the shoot along with a few scores and we will gladly publish them up on the website and you get can you and your friends a bit of exposure.
Also start to keep your eyes on the various discipline "international pages" as although we will endeavour to link to them from the home page as they get updated, sometimes the pages may be up-to-date before we have had time to link to them from the home page.
Keep those reports coming in please !
