Olympics Shooting Venue for 2012 and "Your Support"
British Shooting needs your support!
An e-petition has been created by Mrs. Nicola Heron requesting a change of venue for shooting during the 2012 Olympics. We need you to join British Shooting in its support of Dartford as the venue. If the venue remains at Woolwich there will be no legacy for our sport and more money will be spent demolishing the buildings that are erected; whereas Dartford will offer a continuing shooting legacy into the future.
British Shooting will shortly be writing to all MPs to detail their concerns about the current choice, but meanwhile, adding your signature to this petition will be invaluable to the future of our sport. Please ask anyone who takes part in any shooting sport to also visit the website and register their objection to the proposed site.
Over £18 million (at the 2006 bid price) will be spent on building the 2012 Olympic shooting sports venue at Woolwich Barracks and then after the Olympics it will be pulled down again. This is not only a total waste of money and an immoral use of resources but more importantly it does not leave any lasting legacy for shooting sports in this country. Every year the Great Britain shooting teams bring home medals from competing in ISSF and FITASC disciplines world wide. Surely it deserves a lasting legacy?
Please visit Web site http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/OlympicShooting/ and support British Shooting
