The weather on day 1 proved difficult with high winds affecting the targets, but some good scores were recorded.
On day 2 the competition heated up with the super vet’s team 10 points ahead of the English trio. With a close battle England beat Wales in the final stages and they had to be content with finishing in second spot - but still taking an impressive silver medal position. Please browse through the various pictures of the successful trio in the following gallery:
The veteran’s team also finished with an impressive bronze medal, the more youthful veteran's trio are pictured below:
The ladies team also finished in bronze medal position and are pictured below (without fellow team-mate Sharon Ebbrell):
On an individual level - a shoot off took place for super veteran high gun and saw Mick Mc'Conville come out victorious - well done Mick, a great achievement.
What a fantastic performance from all the Welsh teams (and individuals). To finish on the podium "at home" is a great achievement and all looks well for the World championships in Ireland later in the month.
Can we also take the opportunity to congratulate John Stafford on his excellent performance to be crowned overall European champion 2008 at Mid Wales Shooting Centre:
Massive congratulations must go to Arthur Williams and all the Staff at Mid Wales shooting centre, the grounds were immaculate, the targets (although wind effected) were first rate and the running of the event like clockwork.
