Phil Morgans Xmas Bash
Each year on Phil Morgan's birthday (28 Dec) or as near, he organises a sporting shoot at Litts Newport for local trap shooters. We catered for about 20 but this year due to illness, work, hang over's etc...we slipped to 15 (we are usually over subscribed).
The first point though - George Digweed will not have to sweat too much with this competition!
High gun with a score of about 69 was Phil Morgan - but he was not allowed to win his own prizes, so high gun prize winner was Gareth Howells.......but this is where it gets complicated as he was not allowed to win this either because he won it last year (a very democratic bunch at this shoot).
So on to the eventual winners:
1st-- Nigel ( Joe 290) Clark,
2nd--Gareth Howells,
3rd--John Evans,
4th--Chris( Mr Nelson) Procter.
This years tail end Charlie was Dave Cross.
The shot of the day goes to an English man -- Russell Vaughan after 35 attempts at a dropping dying squirrel (Simulated....this was our combined total) Russ hit one !!!!
The food put on by Gail Morgan was again superb (what a mean curry). On behalf of all of us - what a great day, thank you both, roll on next year, sign up early as the venue is already booked.
Regards: Tony Clough.

Mid Wales Shooting Centre - 100 DTL Christmas Shoot - 15th December
A cool bright morning greeted the shooters at Mid Wales for this popular annual event - the down the line Christmas shoot. This has always been a well attended event and the Williams family always present some cracking seasonal prizes to the successful shooters on the day.
It was no surprise that Mr Chaplow was on form again and posted an early 100 ex 299 on the first wave of squads.
But its was Wales own Phil "magic" Morgan who posted a perfect 100 ex 300 in the second wave as well as P.A. Thomas. This took both of the shooters into a shoot off and it was Phil who kept his cool and shot a 25 straight again (P.A. Thomas barrelled two targets) and come out successful - winning the high gun overall. Well shot Phil, a fine end to the year.
P.A. Thomas took 1st in AA (300), P. Chaplow took 2nd in AA (299) and D. Oram took third in AA (297).
A bystander said that Phil was seen crossing the car park with his massive hamper of fresh meats and booze after receiving his prize and his legs were buckling under the pressure !
Thanks to the Williams family for an excellent day who also provided free mulled wine and mince pies to those who attended. The Christmas atmosphere was very warming, the food outstanding (as usual), the prizes were great and win or loose it was a great day out.
Final Note: Your webmaster was also present at the shoot, but after making a mess of his last 50 he had to be content with a tin of spam from the spar on the way home :)
