The start of the National Skeet qualifiers kicked off at Llandegla (or should that be shot off!) on the 8th April with perfect weather and perfect targets, but unfortunately no perfect 100 straights!

It was the two youngest Welsh shooters, Rhys Evans and Jordan Clifford, who put in credible scores of 97.

John Thomas might have been up there with them if he hadn't have tried to blame a pheasant that was settled on the layout (that's a new one for the 'excuses book') and duly went on to miss High 1 on the 3rd round leaving him on a 96 along with Rob English and Dai Francis.

Joan Hayes started her qualifiers with a great start and cleared the first layout with a 25 straight.  The other ladies then took notice with Angie Goodman managing a 25 straight in her third round and finished on a 93 with Carol Francis just behind on a 92.

All the scores were low considering the conditions, so hopefully by the time the next qualifier in SW2000 takes place on the 22nd........some practice will have taken place!
